Cotton is a very debated material in terms of garment production. Even though it is the most used raw material in the world, and it is a natural fiber with many positive characteristics, it is often grown with strong pesticides and it demands enormous amounts of water to grow, far more than other natural fibers.
Sustainable ways of growing cotton are getting more and more common and demanded each year. The most common ones are for example organic cotton, Fairtrade cotton, and BCI cotton. At Djerf Avenue, we only use recycled or organic cotton.
Most cotton garments can be washed in higher temperatures (40-60 degrees) depending on the style, however, we recommend washing as cold and gentle as possible and to always follow the care instructions for each garment. It is a durable fiber that can be washed, ironed, and used for years.
Iron on high heat while the fabric is slightly damp. Use steam as needed. Note that ironing can usually be avoided by air drying or removing immediately from the machine.
