The Corozo Buttons start their life as Tagua nuts, harvested from the Tagua Palm. These nuts are then set to dry naturally for a period, after which they are carved and shaped into buttons. The drying and carving process is aimed at preserving the natural texture and durability of the material. The buttons can also be dyed, adding another layer of versatility to them.

Clothing with corozo buttons can be machine washed, steamed, dry cleaned, and even ironed with no harmful effects. Corozo is, however, a porous material that should not be submerged underwater for extended periods of time (24 hours or longer) as some warping may occur.
